How to Import Offline Maps

Precondition

To use imported offline maps on your device make sure you have purchased the "Import Maps from PC" feature and you have upgraded to the iOS 4.


Step 1: Download & Install

1. Download the appropriate version of "Mobile Atlas Creator" application for your OS:

2. Extract archive in a separate folder.

Step 2: Map Creation

1. Start the "Mobile Atlas Creator" program.

2. Choose Map Source (e.g. OpenStreetMap Mapnik).

3. Select an area you want to download on map:

  • right click to drag
  • scroll to zoom in/out
  • left click to select downloadable area

4. Tick the desired zoom levels.

5. Click "Add Selection" button on "Atlas Content" section.

6. Choose RMaps SQLite format from "Atlas Settings".

7. Click "Create Atlas" to start downloading

8. When done, open \atlases folder in "Mobile Atlas Creator" directory - YourMapName.sqlitedb file appears here.

Step 3: Uploading to Device

1. Connect your device to computer.

2. Open the iTunes application and select your device.

3. Go to the "Apps" tab and scroll down.

4. Add YourMapName.sqlitedb file into "Galileo Offline Maps" shared folder.

5. Synchronize your device.

6. Start "Galileo Offline Maps" app on your device - created YourMapName offline map appears in Settings > Map.

7. Select it and navigate around the downloaded area, without a need for Internet connection.
